090210 9:30pm: OH MY GOD. Apple Store is now down. This is usually a huge sign that some hardware refreshing is coming. Could it be my MacBook Pro?!
Move along if you aren’t interested in Apple product release news. Otherwise, I just wanna rant that all these clues about an impending release of a revised MacBook Pro is just making me crazy.
It’s old news that my current MacBook Pro has been giving problem. The flickering screens during cold temperatures, the dead internal hard disk, the depressed DVD slot opening… And I’ve been holding off the laptop purchase because I know that it’s almost time that Apple renews their MacBook Pro offerings. Others agree with me too.
I’ve even made my decisions about the MacBook Pro to purchase. It would be the mid-range 15” model, and I’d change the internal HDD to a SSD. Throw in the display adaptor, and *maybe* even a Magic Mouse. I would hold my purchase till June if I could help it to get a free iPod Touch with the Back to School promotion that Apple has annually. But no, my current set up is a little chui for me to wait any longer.
Refreshing http://store.apple.com every morning…
While Apple continues to torture tease us with leaked news of an impending MacBook Pro update, I shall distract myself with plans that I’ve made for it.
The Sumo Laptop Sleeve that I’ve been using for my current laptop was definitely a good investment. But I’ve been eyeing for a new one to replace it, especially since the fabric had frayed at several locations due to abrasion. Presenting: the Incase-Evan Hecox Tokyo sleeve.

Looks hip eh? Never mind that I’m the only one who can see the stitched Tokyo words found only within the sleeve itself. :) One trade off is this sleeve costs 60 USD. Maybe I’d just go for the Canvas Sleeve.
[Yeah~! I finally have some time to blog~! Actually, maybe it’s I’m finally enough reasons to blog. I still have lots of work to clear… *Sobs*]
So exactly ten days ago, I had a lunch appointment with my boss at Takashimaya. He brought me to this Japanese restaurant at the basement level and we had quite a good lunch! He mentioned that he needed to leave for a while and so I began to start crunching through the issue of WIRED magazine that he passed to me.
Then presto! This nicely wrapped box was dropped in front of me.

I knew exactly what was wrapped inside. :D Time to unwrap!
Tada~! 我很像很久没有在镜头前笑得如此灿烂。哈哈~
My boss knew that I couldn’t wait to get home to proceed with the unboxing. And so soon after he fetched me back home already. Haha…
Just one nice profile shot of the new MacBook Pro:
What’re the technical specifications of the new machine?
I quickly did the necessary updates and software installations. One thing I noticed was that the boot time of the new baby was crazy compared to my older machine. Here we have a fairly unscientific comparison. [As you may have noticed, I’m using the wrapping paper everywhere… Haha…]
3x faster wor~ Whoo~!
Then with the help of my boss (once again) and RushFaster, I got a COTEetCIEL Diver Sleeve for the laptop. The design is very simple and muted, just what I had visialized. And it fits the laptop very snugly. Superb~!
Here’s how I went out with my wife the last few times: Dress up nicely in appropriate attire, slip her into her sleeves, and we’re are ready to date! Her battery life has been long enough that I can attend a meeting/presentation without having to worry that the power will run out anytime soon.
My life has just became so much more wonderful. :)
